Webinar: The Role of Healthcare Professionals in Bullying Prevention

posted Jul 26, 2015, 1:02 PM by Ashley Mark

Pediatricians and parents alike feel that pediatricians have an important role to play in bullying prevention. Dr. Joseph Wright, Chairman of Pediatrics at the Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC, will explore that role by reviewing the clinical implications of bullying and clarifying how pediatricians can identify and prevent bullying by educating community members and providing anticipatory guidance to families and youth.

Dr. Matthew Masiello, Chief Medical Officer and Medical Director of Care Coordination for children with complex medical conditions at the Children‘s Institute of Pittsburgh, will review the challenges and recommendations facing physicians working with various stakeholders to address health and social issues related to bullying. He will review office and school-based tools that community pediatricians can leverage to support and advise children and families who are exposed to bullying and related health consequences.

This webinar, the fourth in a series, will focus on the role pediatricians can play in screening for, preventing, and reducing the impact of bullying. It is scheduled for Tuesday, July 28th, 2:00pm-3:00pm.
