Job Openings- Youth Development Specialist

Youth Development Specialist. 32 Hours a week.

 The Stop Access Coalition of the Gandara Center works to prevent/reduce substance abuse and underage drinking among Springfield youth by utilizing an environmental approach applying city-wide environmental strategies with targeted interventions in high risk neighborhoods of Mason Square, Maple High/Six Corners, South End and Forest Park. We are currently looking for a Youth Development Specialist for this project. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in positive youth development, be able to identify and engage diverse groups of youth in target neighborhoods, must be passionate about working with youth and young adults 12 to 24 years of age. He /she will recruit and train youth to engage in coalition work, conduct focus groups and collect surveys of neighborhood youth and accompany youth to both in and out of state trainings and other coalition and youth events.  Candidate must also have a high level of cultural competency, strong organizational and leadership skills, excellent writing, computer and people skills. Creativity, be able to work a flexible schedule, a positive attitude, and a sense of humor will be a big plus.  Bilingual, Spanish/English a plus. He/she must have a valid MA Driver’s License, car insurance and clean driving record. Some evenings and weekends required.
