Vibraphone tunes & free balloons at LOOT
Kids eat for free at Jake’s Tavern 5-9pm

Canned good donations for the Franklin area food pantry are welcome at the Shea Theater.

The event, started last year by Nina’s Nook and LOOT found + made, is “an opportunity to invite folks downtown as a reminder of what a lovely and walkable village Turners Falls is as well as the potential that still remains,” said Erin McLean, co-owner of LOOT. “With the addition of new ventures such as the Powertown Pop-up shop and the recently opened Black Cow Burger, in conjunction with the best kept secret of Turners Falls, The Shea Theater, there is more than (initially!) meets the eye in downtown Turners Falls.”  Visitors can explore for themselves and enjoy discounts and specials being offered at a variety of participating businesses, ranging from popcorn balls and handmade slugs to hot chocolate and mulled wine!

The Shea Theater (through the sponsorship of LOOT and Jake's Tavern) will be offering a free screening of the classic film, It's A Wonderful Life at 8:30pm.  Just as the community of Bedford Falls comes together in support of George Bailey in It's a Wonderful Life, the community of Turners Falls unites to celebrate the holiday season in our creative and growing downtown.

Among the creativity on display at this event, RiverCulture has opened the Powertown Pop Up Shop, a holiday shop featuring work of local artists in the former Gallery at Hallmark space at 85 Avenue A.  During the event, Michael Nix and the Pioneer Consort will be performing work from their holiday album, Noel.  RiverCulture has also organized holiday windows installation by seven local artists in select underutilized storefronts.  “We are happy to both give artists the opportunity to light up and re-imagine these spaces as well as highlight the spaces and the potential for entrepreneurial opportunities still available downtown,” said RiverCulture Director Lisa Davol.  RiverCulture has also sponsored roving musicians throughout the downtown.
