ADs and Youth

Did you know that according to the Federal Trade Commission, youth ages 12 to 17 see an average of 31,000 ads per year on TV alone, not including product placement, web ads, magazines, text message marketing, billboards and games. 
What messages do they give to youth about the culture, and  how or who they should be? What values do they project?
